Islamic Principles Behind Al-Maktab's Welfare Work

Al-Maktab’s welfare efforts are firmly rooted in the timeless teachings of Islam.

Our initiatives are guided by the principles from the Qur’an and Sunnah

Zakaat

“Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase”

(Quran 9:103)

Zakaat is a divine obligation that purifies one’s wealth and ensures social justice. Al-Maktab serves as a responsible channel for collecting and distributing Zakaat to eligible individuals — including students, widows, and the impoverished.

Sadaqah

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed that grows seven spikes”
(Quran 2:261)

Sadaqah extends beyond obligation and embodies selfless giving. Through our food drives, educational sponsorships, and community aid, we provide easy avenues for believers to earn continuous reward through Sadaqah.

Kifālah

“The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this”

Sahih al-Bukhari

Kifalah is the Islamic ethic of supporting orphans and those in need. Al-Maktab enables individuals to sponsor the education and basic needs of students, orphans, and underprivileged families — building bridges of love and care.

Education

“Are those who know equal to those who do not know?”
(Qur’an 39:9)

Islam places great emphasis on seeking knowledge as a means to personal growth and communal strength. Al-Maktab actively supports this principle by sponsoring students, covering school fees, distributing books and uniforms, and offering scholarships to empower future generations.

Medical Aid

“There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment.”
(Sahih Bukhari: 5678)

Health is a blessing and a trust. Islam encourages timely treatment and care for the sick. Al-Maktab provides access to emergency medical aid, monthly medication support, disability assistance, and surgeries for those who cannot afford healthcare.

Food

“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbor to his side goes hungry.”
(Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi: 19049)

Feeding the hungry is a beloved act in Islam. Through ration packs, cooked meals, Ramadan Iftar drives, and Qurbani meat distribution, Al-Maktab ensures that no family is left without sustenance — especially in times of hardship.

Shelter

“And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully.”
(Qur’an 17:26)

A safe shelter is a basic human need. Islam encourages believers to support those in need of housing. Al-Maktab offers rent assistance, temporary accommodation for the homeless, and renovation or construction help for vulnerable families.

Marriage

“Assist in marriage those among you who are single…”
(Qur’an 24:32)

Islam promotes marriage as a means of building stable families and communities. Al-Maktab extends support for marriage expenses, essential dowry items (in-kind), and family crisis relief, ensuring dignity and joy for those who cannot afford it.

General Welfare

“The most beloved of people to Allah is the one who brings the most benefit to others.”
(Al-Muʻjam al-Awsaṭ: 6192)

Islamic service goes beyond specific categories — it’s about responding to every urgent need. Al-Maktab handles utility bill payments, legal/travel emergencies, and small business setup support to help individuals regain stability and dignity.
